Sunbeam Alpine cars for sale

22/07/2024

I bought my new lhd Sunbeam Alpine V back in 1968 when I was living in Austria but for most of the time I have driven it in the UK.

In the two years before Covid I started its restoration. This included spending close to £3000 getting the underside of the car professionally derusted/welded and all of the mechanical components overhauled or ungraded.

Since then my health has declined and I am no longer able to complete the bodywork restoration. Worse still my increasing frailty has meant driving the Alpine has become an onerous task rather than the joy it had been for over 50 years.

So now, in the hope that it will live on for many more decades, I am looking to sell it to someone with a real desire to continue the restoration. If you are interested, please contact me by email and I will send you a full description of what has been done and what I had planned to do to complete the restoration.

FOR SALE: 1967 Sunbeam Alpine Series V.

Health issues force reluctant sale of this USA located car.  In 1998-99 she underwent a major restoration. The motor was completely rebuilt.  The transmission and overdrive were imported from England having been rebuilt by specialist John Roseby. The entire front end suspension was completely renewed with powder coated members and all fittings. NOS differential installed. Rust? Two small bubbles, both of which are unchanged since purchased I purchased it in 1996.

Interior fitted with Martha Wheat restored seats.  New carpet kit partially installed.  Robbins top installed a few years ago.  Totally straight original.  Always garaged.  Mileage unverified but estimate about 20,000 during my ownership.  This car is located near Seattle, Washington State, USA.  I can assist with shipping preparation.

Here is the deal:  hagerty.com value estimate in "good" condition is $14,100 USD (11,100 GBP).  I'm 78 and status post stroke and must sell, soon.  Any reasonable offer around 8,000 GBP sought.

Any offer considered provided you love the Alpine.

FOR SALE

A bereavement sale on behalf of Paul West’s Widow.

A Series V Alpine, KVR789F, first registered February 1968, not concours but a good solid car which drives well.  Mot'd until March 2025.  The chassis plate indicates “GT and OD”, and the OD works fine, but there is no hardtop and from the photos it appears that a conversion to Roadster has been professionally done in the past. The mileage indicated is 27,230, with the MOT record indicating second time round.  The car is fitted with the Webcon conversion and starts easily and drives well. Location South Yorkshire.

FOR SALE

This 1966 series 5 Sunbeam Alpine GT, registration number GRU778D was purchased by me in September 2023 after being with the previous owner for 10 years. It came with a current mot which expired in August 2024

This GT version comes with a matching hardtop which was removed and bagged when I got it home and has never been back on the car.

It comes with a complete soft top which was installed by the previous owner but it has not been attached to the sides and rear.

It has the more reliable weber carburettor upgrade along with the wooden dashboard including glovebox, front and rear fog lights and an extra cooling fan all controlled by individual switches located on the front of the centre arm box plus a manual reverse light with switch under the steering column.

The original seats have been reinstated, a new rear seat made, a new full carpet set added, new classic static seat belts added and a Bluetooth period radio installed.

The paintwork is not bad with no signs of bubbling but there are a few touch up areas which aren't a great colour match. There are some definite areas for improvement like the front windscreen down screen rubber and paint cracking on the rear section where the hardtop has sat for many years.

It starts well and warms up quickly, pulls through all the gears as it should with working overdrive on 3rd & 4th gears.  Brakes, which are servo assisted, work well. All dials work correctly although the clock isn't the most accurate!

All 5 tyres are good the 4 on the car have new chrome wheel rims and I've replaced 1 hubcap.

All in all it's a great car to drive and enjoy or improve as and when you want.

£9,500
