THE ASSOCIATION

The current steering committee have agreed that the word "Association" best describes our collective group rather than the word "Society" which was previously used. It may take a while for all references to be converted so please be patient with us. The name of the new body is "The International Sunbeam Harrington Association" and the new domain name is "Sunbeamharrington.org".

By owning a Harrington Alpine you automatically become part of an exclusive group of people bound across international borders with a unique common bond. Ownership is a privilege and on-going education is essential to the preservation of the marque. We thank you for helping us with on-going studies and registry submissions. As an owner you share in our quest for knowledge and gain by new friendships linked with these fine automobiles. We need you to be the eyes and ears of this cause by identifying and photographing new Harrington Alpines for the registry, providing copies of letters and literature or sharing stories from days gone by. This information helps us to unlock the clues behind production and lost history of our beloved cars. It is also very important that you help us maintain this registry by reporting when your car changes ownership. Read the rules! RULE No 1; Never call a Harrington "Type", RULE No 2; see Rule No 1.

If you are missing a Forum on this site, we can recommend the two at: SAOCA, USA, http://www.sunbeamalpine.org/forum/ and SAOC,UK, http://www.sunbeamalpineowners.club/forum/

You can now also find Harringtons on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/51487927745

Thank you for supporting this web site. registry@harringtonalpine.org [Note: temporary change to the webmaster glenn@sunbeamharrington.org] [also note that the steering committee does not yet have possession of the decals but will hold any requests until such time as we Do have them]

On a positive note I found the address of the company he used to make the keyring fobs and the gel-coated "Le Mans" emblems. They can also make the emblems in any size and here is an example on my JBW wheel centre caps.

Who are the people behind this web site?

Jan Iggbom was the driving force behind research and documentation for many years and many of you will have been contacted by Jan as he researched and documented the serial numbers, registration numbers and first registration dates of your cars. He was the "Harrington Detective" as some like to call him and was the major contributor to this web site. He was the proud first owner of a Harrington Le Mans and a Harrington Series D [Note: sadly Jan passed away on January 30th 2022, please note the dedication to Jan on the site homepage]

Ian Spencer is the founder of The Sunbeam Alpine Owners Club of America. Ian was responsible for the creation and administration of the original website and worked closely with Jan Iggbom to accurately package this information into an easy to navigate website. [the current website has been migrated across to a simpler scheme so that it can be managed without the need for a licensed web package]

We would also like to thank the following Assistant Harrington Detectives for contributing pictures, knowledge and registry findings to this web site.

UK - Andy Harland, Jeff Howarth, David Bradley, Justin Harrington
France - Franck Felicite
USA - Rande Bellman, Jerry Logan

Current 2022 Steering Group: (formed as a result of Jan's passing) Andrew Yates, Clive Pocock, Oliver Bridgeman, Glenn Brackenridge, Jerry Logan, Jeff Howarth.

Jerry owns the "Car and Driver" cover HLM, another HLM, the Factory Works #41 Sebring Alpine as well as other Sunbeams. Andrew and Oliver have each completed spectacular restorations of their HLM and HA respectively each winning Concours prizes at the last two SAOC Nationals. Clive owns a Series D and is also restoring a couple of other Harringtons. Glenn was original member #8 of the SAOC and owns and occasionally races his HLM. Both Jeff and Andrew are stalwart members of the STOC and SAOC. So, the "association" is in good hands! Jeff has owned Harringtons in the past and currently owns the DG Coupe, featured in the "Other Alpine Conversions" section of this site.

We should also acknowledge the previous efforts to build a Harrington Registry including Richard Langworth and John Painter.
